About

Hi, I’m Laura, and PNW Plaids & Pearls is an unapologetic ode to the unpredictable, unexpected, and untitled life of a twenty-something year old college student. It’s also where I share my passion for the little things in life: adventure, photos, people, thrifting, organizing, college survival, decorating, crafting, and of course typing out my (not-so-deep) thoughts.

  • I love Jesus
  • I love Family
  • I love the Rain (no seriously, I love it).
  • I love Coffee.
  • I love the Northwest

I hope you’ll stick around and join me on this crazy adventure of life.

Yep. that’s me! And that pretty little pup is my loyal adventure partner.

So who am I?  Well, first and foremost, I am a child of God, a sinner saved by grace through Jesus Christ. Second, I am a college student in nursing school. If you’ve ever been through nursing school, you know what that means…blood, sweat, and tears (a lot of tears). It has been challenging, exhausting, and a daily reminder that “I can’t do this.” And I can’t. But God has showed himself faithful and given me strength when I had none. Nursing is my profession and people are my {P A S S I O N}. I consider it one of my greatest privileges to be there for my patients and their families through some of their hardest, darkest moments. Only one more semester until I trade in my badge from Nursing Student to RN, BSN. Third, I am a dreamer. Because, did you catch that? ONE. SEMESTER. LEFT. College has the tendency to trap you in a bit of a time-warp. But those years are coming to a close, and new adventures are just around the corner. I love to explore this world of endless opportunities.

I love to travel. And of course, on a poor college student budget, it’s about as unrealistic as it sounds. If there’s an opportunity, I don’t pass it up. I’ve managed to begin my small mark on the world with a summer in India (2012), the occasional trip to Canada, and a few weeks in Israel this past summer.

The camera comes everywhere! I love pictures. Remember all those undocumented”I’ll never forget this” moments. Yeah, well apparently they can be forgettable. So now, I’m officially my mother because I document every moment.

I love bargains and second-hand deals. A quick trip to the local goodwill in search of any “must-haves” is a weekly thing with me. Because isn’t there something satisfying in finding a beautiful J. Crew sweater for $5? There’s a prize (which is always a free Starbucks) for the person who finds the “winning item.”

I love clothes. And I’m a total unashamed Prepster. Being from the Northwest world of hipsters has made my east coast fashion slightly obscure. But I’m okay with that. And the beauty of having sisters, everyone’s closet is free-game (This can backfire when your brand new clothes, tags still one, go missing before you’ve even worm them).

So that’s it, guys.

Have your eyes glazed over yet? I totally understand. And if for some odd reason you’re just dying to know about my life, then stick around.

I’m so glad you’re here!
